Blanche J. Schafer
Blanche J. Schafer, 95, formerly of Harrietsville, Ohio, passed away on June 7, 2025, in Holly Springs, MS. Friends are invited to a visitation / memorial service in Harrietsville, OH at the Catholic Church Parrish Hall on August 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Private family internment at Lower Salem Township cemetery.
Blanche was born on Heddleson Ridge, November20, 1929 to Harry and Lydia Pryor. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Schafer and they had one son, Harry. They lived in Harrietsville for many years until Bill was relocated with his job and they moved to Tucson, AZ, where they lived for 35 years. Blanche worked at the Harts Department store in Marietta, and in Tucson she worked for Revco Pharmacy until she retired. She had three loves in her life: Bill, friends & family of Harrietsville area, and Harry. Grandchildren fell into that category as time went on. Blanche was known for a great laugh as she loved to tell jokes and stories. In Tucson they would camp up in the mountains of Arizona in the summer. They enjoyed fishing and sitting by their camper talking with friends and telling her stories. She and Bill had moved to MS to be closer to Harry as Bill’s health was failing, she needed extra help. After Bill’s death she made the best of life. She took pride in herself and her surroundings always. She will be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Harry James Schafer and his wife, Diane of Olive Branch, MS, plus granddaughter; Kimberly Taylor and husband Brian of NV, grandson; Aaron Schafer and close friend, Heather McKibben of OK, grandson; Michael Schafer and wife Shania of UT, great grandsons; Bryan Taylor of TN, Jacob Taylor of NV, Noah Taylor of NV, and Andy Taylor of ID, Luke Schafer of CA; great-granddaughters;, Bailey Schafer and Piper Schafer both of CA. Many nieces and nephews that she cherished dearly.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband William “Bill” Schafer, all her siblings and a lot of dear friends and relatives.
