Betty Jean Poling
Betty Jean Poling, age 86, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at The Arbors at Marietta. She was born September 20, 1934, in Marietta, daughter of the late Finis and Arnetta Davis Harrell. She attended Marietta Schools. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and baking. She attended Derwent United Methodist Church. She loved her church and going to Bible study, and she read through the Bible many times. She volunteered at The Samaritan House in Caldwell and she enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to their sporting events and activities.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Poling, Jr., whom she married August 3, 1957, and who died February 5, 2015; one son, George Robinson, III, who died August 19, 1965; her aunt who raised her, Sarah Davis; and one brother and one sister.
Surviving are her children, Robert Eugene “Butch” (Nancy) Robinson of Buffalo and Judy Lynn (Tim) Funk of Beverly; 6 grandchildren, Chad (Nikki) Robinson, Angela (Paul) McCulley, Stephanie (Ernie) Norman, Gregory Riski, Amanda Riski, and Derek (Linda) Riski; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call Monday, December 21, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A private family service will be observed with Pastor Debbie Gheen officiating; however, friends may view the service as it is livestreamed Tuesday, December 22 at 11 a.m. on the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home Facebook page.
