Sarah Juanita “Sally” DeLancey

Sarah Juanita “Sally” DeLancey, age 84, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville. She was born April 20, 1939, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Richard L. and Sarah Gwynn Doughton Finnimore. Sally was a 1957 graduate of Jefferson High School in Ashtabula County. She was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church, where she served as co-pianist and was a member of its United Methodist Women, for which she served as treasurer for many years. She retired from the staff at The Journal and the Noble County Leader, for which she worked from 1973-2016. She was also elected and served as clerk-treasurer for the Village of Belle Valley from 1972-2000.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandfather and step-grandmother who raised her, William and Margaret Doughton; her step-mother, Marie Finnimore; a half-brother, Richard Lee Finnimore; and close friend, Claude Wilson.

Surviving are her son, Terry (Robbin) DeLancey of Zanesville; Terry’s father, Carl E. DeLancey of Marietta; three half-brothers, Bill (Linda), Jerry (Marlena) and Jim (Doddie) Finnimore; a sister-in-law, Sandra Leasure of Pennsylvania; and extended family, Willie Wilson and Mark Wilson of Belle Valley.

Friends may call Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 11a.m.-1p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1p.m. with Pastor Debbie Gheen officiating.
