Jon Craig Cleary

Jon Craig Cleary, 79, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Pickering House on the morning of May 13, 2024. After a cancer diagnosis well over a decade ago, Jon was blessed with many years filled with tennis, fishing, hunting, honeybee keeping, and spending time with his beloved family. Jon was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Berne, Ohio.

Jon was born on December 2, 1944, in Marietta, Ohio, to Josephine and Craig Cleary of Mount Ephraim, Ohio. His first marriage brought his three children, Craig Cleary, Joe Cleary, and Laura Reef. In 1979, Jon married the love of his life Sue Burns, and they celebrated their 45^th wedding anniversary in March of 2024.

Jon graduated from the Columbus Fire Academy in 1971. He worked at stations 15 and 16 for the majority of his career where he was a paramedic and retired in 2000 as a Lieutenant. An original member of the East Central Ohio Beekeepers Association, he kept honeybees for over 40 years.

Jon is survived by his wife, Sue Cleary of Lancaster, Ohio, his children, Craig Cleary (Kandis) of York, SC, Joe Cleary (Angela) of Johnstown, Ohio, Laura Reef of Gastonia, North Carolina, granddaughter Kaitlyn Reef of Lancaster, Ohio, sisters Nancy Dietsche (Robert) of Seven Lakes, North Carolina, and Bonnie Cleary of Cambridge, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. Jon is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
