Charlene Ruth Wheeler Hardesty

Charlene Ruth Wheeler Hardesty, age 84, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Sunday, October 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born February 13, 1940, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Glen L. and Martha Belle Wickham Wheeler. She was a 1958 graduate of Belle Valley High School and was a homemaker. Charlene was Methodist by faith an enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Hardesty, whom she married June 9, 1960, and who died June 11, 2019; and two sisters, Shelva (William) Robinson and Sylvia Johnson.

Surviving are her children, Frankie (Janet) Hardesty, Martha (Bill) Swain, John (Melissa) Hardesty, Pamela Marquis Hardesty, Lisa Leasure, and Mike (Angel) Hardesty, all of Caldwell, Danny (Carrie) Hardesty of Dexter City, and Eric (Jessica) Hardesty of Pleasant City; two step-daughters, Connie Hardesty of Marietta and Debra (David) Pickenpaugh of Senecaville; 37 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Glen D. (Donna) Wheeler of Alabama, Ernest R. (Becky) Wheeler of Kimbolton and Dorene (Terry) Wilson of Cambridge; a brother-in-law, Charles Johnson of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor George Clark officiating.
