Fred A. “Butch” Ginn

Fred A. “Butch” Ginn, age 76, of Ava, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home. He was born August 4, 1948, in Cambridge, son of the late Frederick Silas and Virginia Mae Buckey Ginn. Butch was a 1966 graduate of Shenandoah High School and a United States Army veteran with the 101st Airborne Division, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired as an equipment operator from Central Ohio Coal Company with over 39 years of service, and was the owner and operator of Fred A. Ginn Excavating.  He served as a Buffalo Township trustee for 16 years and was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church. Butch was a fifty-year member and past commander of American Legion Post #641, Belle Valley, a life member of VFW Post #8040, Buffalo, a fifty-year member of Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, Valley of Cambridge, AASR, 32nd degree Mason, and the Aladdin Shrine Temple in Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lynne E. Taylor Ginn, whom he married January 1, 2015, and who died April 17, 2017; and one sister, Candye Kavoossi.

Surviving are two sons, Fred A. “Buddy” Ginn of Pleasant City and Brett C. (April) Ginn of Thornville; two grandchildren, Luke Ginn and Lillian Ginn; one sister, Cathy (Ron) Stewart of Ava; his fiancé, Deborah L. Leister of Ava; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 3-7 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran’s Service Organizations.
